BIRDS
We have identified 221 species of birds. Some are included in the lists of species protected by the Nicaraguan government and in CITES appendices. Therefore some birds are completely banned from being hunted and others are banned in specific seasons.
Among the birds are the harpy eagle (Harpia harpia), the green macaw (Ara ambiguus), the three-wattled bellbird (Procnias tricarunculatus) and the great curassow (Crax rubra).
