En Nicaragua se contabilizan 229 concesiones de minería metálica para el año 2021, que abarcan 2,8 millones de hectáreas y representa el 23% de la superficie territorial del país.

Se han detectados 1900 puntos de calor en todo el territorio nacional, estos resultados representan un aumento del 55% en la cantidad de detecciones con respecto a los resultados del año 2021.

In 1997 the entire southeast of Nicaragua and parts of neighbouring Costa Rica were organized according to an ambitious regional development scheme called Si-a-Paz (Yes-to-Peace). A research station was part of the plans, this paper focuses on the history of this project.
